Investigation Discovery’s Evil Lives Here continues with the episode “My Wicked Stepmother” on Sunday night. The episode looks into the disturbing story of Donald Ray Hoop’s murder and the shocking role his wife, Joy Major Hoop, played in his death.

On February 10, 1997, Donald, also known as “Whitey,” was shot and killed in the parking lot of Slammers Bar in Mount Orab, Ohio. The evidence led to the conviction of Joy, who was found guilty of conspiracy and complicity in Donald’s aggravated murder.

In the lead-up to the tragic event, Joy’s volatile and manipulative behavior had a detrimental impact on her stepdaughter, Desiree. Joy’s true nature was exposed when, on the night of the murder, she expressed her desire to see Donald dead.

Subsequent investigations revealed further incriminating evidence, including the presence of Donald’s blood at the scene and the involvement of Carl G. Lindsey, who was convicted of the aggravated murder and sentenced to death.
