The world of cryptozoology is often more cryptid than zoology. But for those who find themselves perpetually squinting at blurry photos of hairy bipeds, Discovery offers another dose of Expedition Bigfoot. Season 6 kicks off Wednesday, January 22, with the team migrating from Northern California to the evergreen forests of Washington state. Apparently, the Sasquatch scene is buzzing up there.
The core trio—Bryce Johnson, Mireya Mayor, and Russell Acord—return, armed with what they claim is a new data algorithm based on 50 years of Bigfoot sightings. Because if there’s one thing Bigfoot is known for, it’s meticulous record-keeping. This season, they’re focusing on a supposed hotbed of Bigfoot activity, aiming to uncover why so many of the creatures are allegedly gathering in this specific area. Maybe it’s a Sasquatch convention? A really good berry patch? The world may never know, or at least not until this season unfolds.
Adding to the mix is new team member Biko Wright, a survivalist whose expertise is apparently essential for navigating the wilds of…Washington. One can’t help but wonder if previous seasons lacked basic wilderness survival skills. Regardless, Wright adds a fresh face to the familiar formula, which, let’s face it, is probably more about the journey than the destination, which is likely a slightly clearer, yet still inconclusive, image of something large and hairy.
Will this season finally deliver the definitive proof of Bigfoot’s existence? Or will it be more of the same grainy footage and speculative pronouncements? Tune in to Discovery on Wednesday, January 22 at 10 PM to find out if the truth is out there, or if it’s just another tree stump.
Expedition Bigfoot airs Wednesdays at 10 PM on Discovery.
