Josh Gates is back to peel the lid off another historical mystery as Expedition Unknown launches its fifteenth season this Wednesday at 9:00 PM ET on Discovery. The premiere episode, “Hitler’s Amerikabomber,” sends the adventurer-host deep into former Nazi territory to investigate one of World War II’s most audacious and unrealized plans.

Gates is on the hunt for evidence of a long-range bomber that Adolf Hitler allegedly commissioned with the goal of attacking the United States. The search takes him to Poland, where he unearths still-sealed Nazi tunnels and explores the remnants of top-secret weapons factories. The episode’s climax features Gates gaining access to a vast subterranean facility that may have been intended to manufacture the so-called “dream killing machine.”

Expedition Unknown has long since perfected its formula, blending Gates’s archaeological background and accessible sense of humor with genuine historical inquiry. He sifts through dusty archives and local legends before getting his hands dirty at remote sites, immersing himself in the story. This season opener is right in the show’s wheelhouse: a high-stakes search for a legendary artifact, a journey into a dark chapter of history, and the thrill of exploring places that have been hidden from the world for decades.
