The team from Expedition X is back for another season of exploring the unknown, and this time, they’re taking on one of America’s most haunted locations: the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum.
In the season premiere, titled “The Madhouse,” Josh Gates, Phil Torres, and Heather investigate disturbing reports and paranormal activity within the abandoned halls of this former psychiatric hospital, where thousands of patients met their end through questionable medical practices.
The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, located in West Virginia, has a dark and troubled history. It was once the largest mental institution in the United States, housing up to 2,500 patients at its peak. The massive Greek Revival-style building, constructed in the mid-19th century, has earned a reputation for being one of the most haunted places in the country. Thousands of patients suffered and died within its walls, many as a result of inhumane treatments and procedures.
In this episode, the Expedition X team braves the eerie atmosphere of the abandoned asylum, now a crumbling ruin filled with ghostly reminders of its tragic past. They look at the history of the institution, uncovering the disturbing truth behind its walls. Josh, Phil, and Heather seek to understand the reasons behind the reported paranormal phenomena. They use cutting-edge technology and their own expertise to gather evidence and piece together the puzzle of the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum’s dark history.
