Family Guy takes a satirical jab at the political landscape in “Drunk With Power,” as Peter Griffin finds himself in an unlikely role swap with none other than Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. It all starts with a brewery tour, a few too many beers, and a burgeoning bromance. The next morning, Peter and Kavanaugh wake up in each other’s lives – a scenario ripe for the show’s trademark brand of irreverent humor.
Peter, now a Supreme Court Justice, finds himself woefully unprepared to rule on landmark cases. His first challenge: determining the constitutionality of gay marriage, a topic that’s sure to elicit some outrageous and politically incorrect commentary from Quahog’s favorite patriarch. Meanwhile, Kavanaugh attempts to deal with the equally challenging terrain of Peter’s daily life. He tries to connect with Peter’s friends, Quagmire, Cleveland, and Joe, leading to some awkward and likely hilarious interactions.
With its history of pushing boundaries and poking fun at topical issues, Family Guy seems well-positioned to tackle this sensitive subject matter. The episode takes aim at everything from the political climate to the culture of celebrity, all filtered through the lens of animated absurdity. Will Peter’s stint on the Supreme Court uphold justice, or will it descend into utter chaos?
Family Guy airs Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 9:30 PM ET/PT on FOX.
