‘Family Law’ Sets Season 4 Premiere on The CW as Canadian Legal Dramedy Returns to Primetime

Family Law

The CW is bringing back the Svenssons. Canadian legal dramedy Family Law returns for Season 4 on Wednesday, July 23 at 8 PM ET, continuing its primetime run with ten new episodes of courtroom complications and family dysfunction.

Led by Jewel Staite as recovering alcoholic attorney Abby Bianchi, the new season picks up with Abby reeling from a series of personal hits—including her boyfriend’s relapse, her daughter’s brutally honest school essay, and a missed shot at equity partnership.

Victor Garber is back as Abby’s estranged father and firm patriarch Harry Svensson, who’s juggling post-divorce fallout and the possibility of a merger that could upend the business. Also returning: Zach Smadu as Abby’s half-brother Daniel, whose fling with Jude (Mapuana Makia) turns out to be more than a one-off, and Genelle Williams as Lucy, who’s navigating both a breakup and unexpected buzz from her podcast.

New and returning faces this season include Benjamin Ayres as Abby’s boyfriend Ben, Eden Summer Gilmore as her daughter Sofia, Miranda Edwards as Martina, and Lauren Holly as Harry’s ex, Joanne.

Originally commissioned by Canadian broadcaster Global, Family Law continues to serve as a utility player for The CW as the network retools its slate with international co-productions and cost-effective scripted plays.
