Family Secrets: The Disappearance of Alissa Turney Premieres on Oxygen, October 13

Family Secrets The Disappearance of Alissa Turney

Sarah Turney’s relentless pursuit of justice for her sister Alissa, who vanished years ago, has led to a groundbreaking documentary. “Family Secrets: The Disappearance of Alissa Turney” premieres on Oxygen True Crime on Sunday, October 13, at 8 PM ET/PT. The extended version will be available on Peacock starting Tuesday, October 22.

Turney, the founder of Voices for Justice Media, gained widespread attention when she shared her suspicions on social media that her father was involved in her sister’s disappearance. Her efforts sparked a grassroots campaign that resulted in an arrest and trial, though not the closure she sought.

Oxygen follows Turney’s journey as she exhausts traditional legal avenues and turns to podcasting and social media to keep the investigation alive. The documentary offers unprecedented access to Turney’s story, including a trove of recently discovered home videos that provide new light on her and Alissa’s childhood.

Through her investigation, Turney makes chilling discoveries that break through years of manipulation, reconstructing the truth of the past and freeing herself from her father’s influence. The documentary culminates in a haunting final conversation between Turney and her father.

Peacock’s extended version of the documentary will feature expanded and new sections, including intimate details from Alissa’s friends, an investigation into the manipulative relationship between Sarah and Alissa’s father and other family members, and a deeper look at Turney’s advocacy through social media and her podcasts, Voices for Justice and Media Pressure.
