The true-crime genre is built on a foundation of familiar motives, and the love triangle remains one of its most reliable cornerstones. TV One’s Fatal Attraction returns to this well on Monday with an episode centered on the stabbing death of a man described as a dedicated father, a crime that sends his family and friends into a state of shock.
Titled Between Two Lies, the new installment, hosted by Malikha Mallette, follows investigators as they begin to look into the victim’s life and quickly find that his relationships were not as straightforward as they appeared. As detectives begin their work, they uncover a messy entanglement that points directly to a motive rooted in jealousy and deceit. The case becomes less about a random act of violence and more about a targeted attack born from a fractured romance.
While the “love triangle” might be a recognizable setup for followers of the genre, the series typically spends its time examining the emotional wreckage left behind. The focus here will be on how detectives sort through conflicting stories to find the person responsible for the killing.
Fatal Attraction airs Monday, June 16 at 9:00 PM ET on TV One.
