“FBI” is back, and this week, it’s tackling a ripped-from-the-headlines issue: sex trafficking. When a sting operation goes sideways, the team must launch a frantic search for a missing victim. The clock is ticking, and the stakes are high. Will they find her before she’s moved out of the city or worse?
Now, I’m generally a fan of procedurals that tackle these kinds of weighty topics, but I’m also wary of the “white savior” trope that often comes into play. Hopefully, “Manhunt” will focus on the victim’s story and the systemic issues that contribute to human trafficking, rather than simply giving us the heroics of the FBI agents.
The preview hints at Maggie connecting with a 911 operator who may hold crucial information. This suggests a more human-centered approach, which is always welcome.
