Let’s just say “Greek Tragedy” isn’t exactly light viewing. This week’s FBI: Most Wanted finds the team in Virginia investigating the brutal stabbing of two sorority sisters. Naturally, the clock is ticking to find the perp before they strike again, which, let’s be frank, is pretty much the premise of every FBI show, but hey, sometimes the familiar formula works.
The university setting offers some potential for digging into the usual college-aged anxieties: social pressures, rivalries, secrets. Will the writers take advantage of that? Time will tell. I am not getting my hopes up too high. Meanwhile, Hana’s agreeing to meet with Ethan suggests some personal drama is brewing. I suppose someone on this show needs a life outside of chasing bad guys. Though how much actual “help” Ethan needs, considering he’s a therapist, remains a question for another day.
Frankly, I’m more interested in the title. “Greek Tragedy” – what exactly are they hinting at? Are we talking about a classic downfall scenario? A tale of hubris? Or just some generic sorrow because, you know, murder is sad? I suppose we’ll see how cleverly, or not so cleverly, they weave those classical themes into the sorority storyline. If nothing else, it gives the promo department something vaguely dramatic to work with.
FBI: Most Wanted airs Tuesdays at 10/9c on CBS.
