Coming to MHz Choice on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, is the Swedish drama “The Fighter,” a six-episode series about the relentless pursuit of a dream, even when that dream threatens to break you. The series follows Lea “Mariposa” Ferrera (Madeleine Martin), a boxer battling for a World Championship title while simultaneously grappling with the challenges of being a single mother and, you know, the occasional physical injury.
As if Lea’s life weren’t complicated enough, an investigator begins to suspect her of cheating. This leads to accusations of criminal conduct and tests the loyalties of everyone around her. Lea must decide how much she’s willing to sacrifice—her health, her future, her son, and perhaps even the dream itself—for a shot at the title.
Joining Martin are Jennie Silfverhjelm, Ralph Carlsson, and Emil Almén. “The Fighter” will be available in the US and Canada exclusively on MHz Choice and its digital channels. The trailer offers glimpses of Lea’s intense training regimen and the various obstacles she faces, both inside and outside the ring. Whether the series can deliver a knockout punch is another question though.
