Filming Starts in Brisbane on Paramount+ Romantic Drama Two Years Later

Two Years Later Key Art

Paramount+ has kicked off production on Two Years Later, an eight-part Australian original led by Brenton Thwaites and Phoebe Tonkin. Filming is underway in Brisbane, with the series backed by Screen Queensland and produced by Hoodlum.

Created by Pete Bridges, the show follows Ryan and Emily, two strangers whose pre-pandemic flirtations on a bus spark a risky post-lockdown reunion. Ryan proposes they go on eight dates to find out if they should get married. Each episode tracks one date.

The premise is direct, but the scope is wide. The series leans into personal tension, family baggage, and real-world dating stakes. Tonkin and Thwaites anchor the emotional core, while Roy Billing and Heather Mitchell round out the cast.

Paramount+ continues to lean into domestic drama to build local relevance. The play here is clean: relatable premise, known talent, short-run format. Banijay Rights is handling global sales.
