CBS’s Fire Country is about to torch its way into the holiday hiatus with a fall finale hotter than a flaming fruitcake. “Promise Me,” airing Friday, December 13, throws some serious fuel on the dramatic fire, pitting the crew against relentless “zombie fires” while Eve tackles a different kind of inferno: a face-off with her estranged father.
These aren’t your garden-variety forest fires; “zombie fires” are the undead of the wildfire world, smoldering underground and re-emerging to wreak havoc. Just the kind of festive cheer you’d expect from a mid-December broadcast television drama. As if battling nature’s pyromania weren’t enough, Eve’s got daddy issues to deal with. Elroy Edwards, played by the always-welcome Phil Morris, rides into town as the “stalwart cowboy” whose family ranch is vital to the Edgewater community.
Let’s hope the familial fireworks don’t distract from the firefighting at hand. After all, lives are at stake, and the Edgewater crew has enough on its plate without a side of awkward family reunions. With “Promise Me” serving as Fire Country’s last outing until the new year, the show looks set to leave us with some cliffhangers to ponder over the eggnog.
Fire Country airs Fridays at 9:00 PM ET/PT on CBS and streams on Paramount+.
