BBC and Disney+ have released images from the table read of their series The War Between The Land And The Sea, a Doctor Who spin-off. The cast includes Ruth Madeley, Colin McFarlane, Russell Tovey, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jemma Redgrave, and Alexander Devrient.
Created by Doctor Who showrunner and executive producer Russell T Davies, the series expands the Doctor Who universe. The story concerns the emergence of an ancient and fearsome species from the ocean, sparking an international crisis. With humanity under threat, UNIT intervenes to address the conflict between land and sea. The series will feature The Sea Devils from a 1972 Doctor Who story.
The five-part series is executive-produced by Davies, Pete McTighe, Joel Collins, Phil Collinson, Julie Gardner, and Jane Tranter for Bad Wolf, with collaboration from BBC Studios. It is produced with support from the Welsh Government via Creative Wales.
The War Between The Land And The Sea is currently in production, directed by Dylan Holmes Williams, who directed two episodes of Doctor Who. The series will broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK and exclusively on Disney+ internationally.
