The crew of the Kinloch Bravo oil rig will brave new dangers—and a new location—in the upcoming second season of Prime Video’s The Rig. Forget the familiar North Sea setting; the survivors have been transported by helicopter to a mysterious Arctic facility known as the Stac. The series is produced by Wild Mercury Productions. Executive producers include Derek Wax, John Griffin and Matthew Jacobs Morgan.
The first-look photos hint at the challenges ahead. The trauma of the tsunami that decimated the Bravo still lingers, and the isolated Arctic landscape only amplifies the tension. But the dangers aren’t just environmental. Corporate conspiracies and unknown threats lurking beneath the icy depths promise to keep the crew on edge.
The new season expands the scope of the series, exploring themes of deep-sea mining and its potential environmental impact. The returning cast, including Iain Glen, Emily Hampshire, Martin Compston, Rochenda Sandall, and Mark Addy, is joined by new faces Alice Krige, Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, Ross Anderson, Phil McKee, and Johannes Roaldsen Fürst.
With six new episodes written by creator David Macpherson, The Rig Season 2 will hopefully be another chilling journey into the unknown when it premieres this January.
