This week, “Fixer to Fabulous” takes on a lake house, and while I’m bracing myself for the inevitable “rustic chic” makeover, there’s one element that has piqued my interest: a British pub in the basement.
Yes, you read that right. Dave and Jenny Marrs, the dynamic duo of Arkansas home renovation, have been given free rein to transform a drab lake house basement into a cozy, pub-inspired retreat, complete with a speakeasy. I’m envisioning dark wood paneling, leather armchairs, maybe a dartboard or two. And a speakeasy? Intriguing…though I’m not sure how well that pairs with the whole “family-friendly” HGTV vibe.
Of course, there will also be the requisite outdoor oasis – probably a fire pit, some Adirondack chairs, and string lights galore. Still, the idea of a British pub in an Arkansas lake house is just quirky enough to make me tune in. Will it be a triumph of design or a kitschy disaster? Tuesday night will tell.
