The hammers are swinging, the saws are buzzing, and Jenny Marrs is probably wielding a glue gun with unnerving precision. Yes, Fixer to Fabulous is back for its sixth season, and if the premiere is any indication, it’s business as usual in Bentonville, Arkansas. This time, the Marrs are tackling a “massive brick house” for a military couple facing more than the usual home-improvement headaches.
After a series of relocations and a family tragedy, this couple is looking for a place to finally put down roots. The Marrs, as they do, aim to deliver more than just a functional living space. They’re crafting a home infused with meaning, incorporating design elements that honor the family members the couple has lost. Expect shiplap, probably. And some strategically placed barn doors. It’s the Fixer to Fabulous aesthetic, after all.
While the emotional hook is undoubtedly strong – and HGTV knows how to tug at the heartstrings – the sheer scale of this renovation should satisfy even the most demanding home-reno voyeurs. The house is, as advertised, a substantial brick behemoth, offering plenty of opportunities for the Marrs to flex their design muscles. Whether they’ll stick to their tried-and-true farmhouse chic or venture into uncharted design territory is the question that keeps me, personally, up at night.
Fixer to Fabulous airs Tuesday, January 7, 2024, at 8:00 PM on HGTV.
