Sure, flipping houses is stressful. So is parenting. But flipping houses while simultaneously orchestrating a surprise 13th birthday party? That’s the kind of high-wire act Tarek and Heather El Moussa tackle in this new episode of HGTV’s The Flipping El Moussas. The second of the evening. Frankly, I’m exhausted just thinking about it.
The episode finds the El Moussas facing their usual real estate rodeo – tight deadlines, unexpected renovation snafus, and the constant pressure to make a profit. This time, however, they’ve thrown a teenage birthday bash into the mix, complete with all the requisite anxieties: Will the cake arrive on time? Will Taylor like the gifts? Will the bouncy house spontaneously combust? (Okay, maybe that last one is just my own parental paranoia.)
The crux of the episode, of course, lies in the El Moussas’ attempt to balance their professional and personal lives. Can they maintain their trademark flipping finesse while ensuring Taylor’s big day doesn’t become a demolition derby of disappointment? Will the grout dry before the guests arrive? Will Heather find time to shower between applying backsplash and wrapping presents? These are the burning questions that keep me up at night. Or, at least, mildly interested for an hour.
The Flipping El Moussas airs Thursdays at 10:00 PM on HGTV.
