Nine has its first champion on The Floor, and the network isn’t being shy about the numbers. Patrick Neasy, a 33-year-old engineer from Tasmania, walked away with the title and a $200,000 payday—double the top prize awarded on local tentpoles like Lego Masters, Australian Idol, and The Amazing Race Australia.
Neasy, who entered the game with the “Instruments” tile, outlasted dozens of challengers in the high-stakes trivia format. He closed out the season in a tense final face-off against former MasterChef Australia contestant Amina, battling across categories like “World Leaders,” “Veggies,” and “History Makers.”
Host Rodger Corser called Neasy’s win “well-deserved,” praising his sharp memory, strategic discipline, and calm under pressure.
Launched earlier this year as part of Nine’s unscripted refresh, The Floor has quickly become the biggest new series in VOZ history, averaging over 1 million metro and regional viewers across linear and BVOD. The format, originally developed by Talpa in the Netherlands, marries trivia gameplay with a risk-and-reward tile system, encouraging contestants to challenge opponents in head-to-head battles.
Before Neasy clinched the title, standout player Kate racked up ten duel wins in a row—a record for the season. Neasy credited his preparation in specific categories like “Girl Groups” and “History Makers,” though says the friendships and experience meant more than the money. Not that the $200,000 will go to waste: he plans to invest, then take a long-planned road trip along the Alaska Highway.
