Apple TV+ has released the official trailer for its upcoming film “Fly Me to the Moon“, starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum. The film is set to hit theatres in July 2024 and will also be available on Apple TV+.
“Fly Me to the Moon” is a comedy-drama set against the backdrop of NASA’s historic Apollo 11 moon landing in the 1960s. Johansson plays Kelly Jones, a marketing maven brought in to fix NASA’s public image, while Tatum portrays Cole Davis, a by-the-book launch director. As the White House deems the mission too important to fail, Jones is tasked with staging a fake moon landing as a backup plan. The trailer promises a sharp and stylish film with sparks flying between the two leads.
The film is directed by Greg Berlant and written by Rose Gilroy, based on a story by Bill Kirstein and Keenan Flynn. In addition to Johansson and Tatum, the film also stars Nick Dillenburg, Anna Garcia, Jim Rash, Noah Robbins, Colin Woodell, Christian Zuber, and Donald Elise Watkins, with appearances by Ray Romano and Woody Harrelson.
Interestingly, the film was previously untitled and known as “Project Artemis”, with Apple keeping details under wraps. The title “Fly Me to the Moon” was only recently revealed, along with the trailer.
In a similar vein, Apple TV+ also offers a 2008 animated film with the same title, “Fly Me to the Moon”, about three adventurous houseflies that stow away on the Apollo 11 moon flight.
