Let’s face it, the phrase “culinary expertise” isn’t usually associated with reality TV stars. But what if you tossed a bunch of them into a kitchen, armed them with questionable cooking skills, and pitted “heroes” against “villains”? That’s the chaotic premise of Food Network’s Worst Cooks in America Celebrity Edition: Heroes vs. Villains, returning Sunday, January 5, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
This season looks to be a recipe for disaster (and entertainment) with chefs Jeff Mauro and newcomer Antonia Lofaso leading the charge. The roster includes a motley crew from reality TV’s past and present. Representing the “heroes” are Sebastian Bach (singer Skid Row), Cheryl Burke (Dancing with the Stars), Frankie Grande (actor, dancer, Big Brother 16), Adam Rippon (Olympic figure skater, Stars on Mars) and Trinity the Tuck (RuPaul’s Drag Race). On the villainous side, we have Wes Bergmann (The Challenge), Bartise Bowden (Love Is Blind, Perfect Match), Corinne Olympios (The Bachelor), Tiffany “NewYork” Pollard (Flavor of Love, I Love New York) and Rachel Reilly (Big Brother, Amazing Race).
The two-hour premiere kicks off with a dinner party challenge likely to produce more groans than compliments, followed by a seafood filet test that could easily devolve into a fish-out-of-water fiasco. Future episodes feature equally absurd challenges with titles like “Reality Roast” and “May the Course Be With You,” suggesting we’re in for some seriously questionable cooking.
Subsequent culinary showdowns include a comic book-themed Flavor City test and a regal, food-inspired Games of Scones. The eventual winner snags bragging rights and a $25,000 prize for their charity of choice.
The finale, airing Sunday, February 2, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, will see the remaining contestants face judgment from Gino D’Acampo, Judy Joo, and Kelsey Barnard Clark. Hopefully the food has improved significantly by then.
Tune in to Food Network on Sunday, January 5 at 8 p.m. ET/PT for the premiere of Worst Cooks in America Celebrity Edition: Heroes vs. Villains.
