Formula 1 is moving to a new home in the United States. Beginning in 2026, Apple TV will become the exclusive broadcaster for the racing series in a five-year deal, taking over from current rights-holder ESPN. The move marks a significant shift in sports broadcasting and deepens the relationship between Apple and the global racing league.
The partnership gives Apple TV subscribers in the U.S. access to all Formula 1 sessions, including practice, qualifying, Sprints, and every Grand Prix. As part of the agreement, select races and all practice sessions will also be made available to watch for free within the Apple TV app. F1’s existing streaming service, F1 TV Premium, will continue to be available in the U.S. but will require an Apple TV subscription.
This new broadcast deal follows the global success of the Apple Original Film F1 The Movie, a blockbuster racing feature starring Brad Pitt and produced by director Jerry Bruckheimer and seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton. Apple plans to integrate its F1 coverage across its other services, including Apple News and the Apple Sports app, which will feature live updates and real-time leaderboards for every race.
In a statement regarding the end of its current deal, ESPN said: “We’re incredibly proud of what we and Formula 1 accomplished together in the United States and look forward to a strong finish in this final season. We wish F1 well in the future.”
