Fugitives: Caught on Tape Doubles Down on Danger (A&E, Wednesday, December 11, 2024)

A&E’s Fugitives: Caught on Tape isn’t content with just one dose of adrenaline this Wednesday. The network is unleashing another double-header of chases, captures, and close calls, leaving viewers breathless (or at least slightly winded).

First up in episode #117, we have a shoplifting suspect taking the concept of “hanging out” to a whole new level – literally dangling from a highway overpass. Police and highway patrol officers face a precarious rescue situation, likely wondering if “shoplifting gone wrong” is a valid police report category. The same episode then shifts gears, following deputies, air units, and K-9 officers in a coordinated effort to apprehend a suspect who’s apparently decided to test his endurance both on land and in water. One imagines the K-9 is particularly enthusiastic about this particular pursuit.

Episode #118 dials up the drama with a shoplifting suspect who clearly isn’t going down without a fight – or, more accurately, a high-speed chase. After transforming a routine police encounter into a vehicular rodeo by ramming a police cruiser, she leads officers on a chase that promises twisted metal and frayed nerves. One can almost hear the dispatcher sighing, “It all started with a stolen lipstick.”

Both episodes, airing back-to-back on December 11, offer a gritty, multi-perspective view of law enforcement’s pursuit of fugitives. Viewers get a front-row seat to the action thanks to a mix of body cams, dash cams, security footage, traffic cams, and even the occasional shaky handheld video. This multi-camera approach aims to provide an immersive experience, though hopefully, the shaky cam isn’t too shaky.

Fugitives: Caught on Tape airs Wednesday, December 11 at 10 PM and 10:30 PM Eastern Time on A&E.
