In this episode of Garden Rescue, we head to Billericay, where Mike and Val are facing a challenge. Val, who once loved spending time in their garden, can no longer access it due to mobility issues. Determined to bring the joy of gardening back into Val’s life, the couple reaches out to the Garden Rescue team for help. Designers Chris and Charlie answer the call, ready to battle it out with their creative ideas.
Chris and Charlie propose two distinct designs, each aiming to create a fragrant rose garden as per the couple’s request. Chris’ design takes a more traditional approach, featuring a circular brick and sandstone patio under an octagonal pergola as its stunning centerpiece. To execute this vision, the build team faces an engineering challenge: creating a seamless new deck extending from the back of the house to the upper level of the garden.
Meanwhile, Charlie has a dual purpose in mind. Not only does she want to deliver a beautiful rose garden, but she also aims to help Val regain her independence in the garden. With this in mind, she designs a multi-use potting table that will enable her to engage in gardening activities more easily. Charlie’s plan also includes a diverse selection of roses, ensuring Val can enjoy their beauty and fragrance.
In the end, Mike and Val decide to go with Chris’ design, and the build team gets to work, tackling the complex task of constructing the new deck. As the episode unfolds, we witness the transformation of their garden into a traditional rose haven, complete with a stunning pergola and an array of fragrant roses.
