Spring has officially arrived at Longmeadow, and Monty Don is busy as ever. In this Friday’s episode of “Gardeners’ World,” he continues his work on the Jewel Garden borders, planting dark-flowered hydrangeas to add a touch of drama. There’s also the first rhubarb harvest of the season – a moment all gardeners anticipate – and the sowing of some of Monty’s favorite flowers.
Beyond Longmeadow, Joe Swift visits a neighborhood where front gardens are a source of community pride. It’s a celebration of green thumbs and neighborly connections, with a focus on the variety and vibrancy that front gardens can bring to a community. Meanwhile, Sue Kent travels to Wales to meet a vegetable grower who has mastered the art of working with the local climate, producing an impressive array of crops. The episode also features a doctor in Edinburgh who transformed her lawn into a thriving garden oasis and gives us a rare glimpse into the only Grade 1 listed cottage garden in the country.
“Gardeners’ World” airs Friday, March 21 at 8:00 PM on BBC Two.
