General Hospital Spoilers, Friday, January 31

General Hospital Key Art

Friday’s episode of General Hospital was a whirlwind of romantic angst, investigative pressure, and simmering rivalries, proving once again that Port Charles is the most dramatic zip code in America.

Lulu, still harboring feelings for Dante, remained hesitant to confess her love while he’s grieving Sam’s death. Good call, Lulu. Nothing says “I love you” like interrupting a man’s mourning period with a declaration of your undying affection. Meanwhile, Dante continued to press Anna Devane for answers in Sam’s murder investigation, suspecting, probably rightly, that he’s being kept in the dark.

Elsewhere, an injured and understandably grumpy Kai lashed out at Trina, blaming her for trying to help. Classic soap opera miscommunication. Trina attempts a good deed, and Kai throws a metaphorical tantrum. As for Drew, he seemed to be playing the long game in his rivalry with Curtis, quietly plotting his revenge while Curtis remained blissfully unaware of the impending storm. Never underestimate a Quartermaine with a grudge.

In other Port Charles news, Laura dispensed her usual brand of sage wisdom to Lulu, Ava and Ric continued their custody battle with Sonny, and Kristina remained confident that Sonny would win. Brook Lynn, ever the busybody, searched for Cody, possibly to discuss adoption secrets or to get his opinion on the paternity of Sasha’s baby. Oh, and Brad Cooper was being his usual demanding self, which never ends well.

General Hospital airs weekdays at 2:00 PM on ABC.
