Channel 4’s zombie drama, Generation Z, will not be getting a second series. The show, which blended teen angst with a flesh-eating outbreak, has been cancelled despite being described as a success by the broadcaster.
Here’s the Lowdown: Generation Z was set in the fictional, dull town of Dambury. A chemical spill from an overturned army convoy turns the residents of a local care home into violent, hungry zombies. A group of teenagers, including characters played by Jay Lycurgo, Buket Komur, Lewis Gribben, and Viola Prettejohn, find themselves caught in the chaos, dealing with both the undead and their own personal dramas. Sue Johnston, Paul Benthall, Robert Lindsay and Anita Dobson starred as some of the older characters.
What This Means Now: The cancellation means the storylines introduced in the first series will remain unresolved. A Channel 4 spokesperson, while thanking everyone involved, cited their pride in the show and is looking forward to new collaborations.
The Bigger Picture: The show explored typical teenage problems—relationships, family conflicts, and future anxieties—alongside the extraordinary situation of a zombie outbreak. The series is still currently available to stream on Channel 4.
