“George Clarke’s Building Home” continues with a story that sounds like it has all the ingredients for a home renovation disaster: expat couple returns to the UK, takes on a massive restoration project, faces cost overruns, and tackles a winter build. What could possibly go wrong?
Kazal and Eleena, former West Midlands residents who spent a good chunk of time in Dubai, are back in Solihull to be near family. They’ve decided to revive a run-down house and turn it into a family gathering spot, complete with a large open-plan kitchen/dining/living room, a second “spice kitchen,” and a master suite above the garage. Ambitious, to say the least.
Of course, Clarke is there to offer his expertise and empathetic ear as the couple inevitably faces the challenges of bringing their dream home to life. Will they manage to stay on budget? Will the winter weather throw a wrench in their plans? And will they make some of those classic renovation mistakes that leave them living in a construction zone?
