Get Lit Joins FOX Entertainment To Celebrate Black History Month with #TVforAll
For the next 12 months, FOX and Get Lit will work together to produce multicultural, socially relevant videos. In celebration of Black History Month and as part of FOX’s #TVFORALL initiative, the first original poem, “Black Future,” will make its world premiere in February. The Monique Mitchell-penned “Black Future” will air all month long on local FOX stations and FOX digital.
Educator and writer Diane Luby Lane established the nonprofit organization Get Lit in Los Angeles in 2006 with the goals of improving literacy, bolstering the agency of young people, and revitalizing neighborhoods via the use of poetry and visual arts. Giving pupils the space to express themselves creatively, a supportive network, and real-world experience can help them become future leaders, academics, and celebrities.
Poet, ghostwriter, and lover Monique Mitchell has been featured in The New York Times, Cultural Weekly, and other notable Los Angeles periodicals. During her time with Get Lit – Words Ignite, she discovered the transformative potential of language. In support of SB 933, which allocated $50 million to arts education throughout California, Mitchell was invited to perform before the California State Senate. She’s worked with a who’s who of the fashion industry, including Puma, Freedom Jacob Caesar, and Maria Shriver.
Launched in early 2020, FOX’s #TVForAll campaign provides a space to highlight, champion, and celebrate diverse voices across FOX Entertainment.
