Ghosts “The Primary Source” (CBS, Thursday, December 5, 2024)

Ghosts Key Art

In the realm of sitcoms, few shows manage to balance the mundane with the supernatural quite like “Ghosts.” The Woodstone B&B, with its spectral residents, has become a familiar haunt for viewers, and the upcoming episode, “The Primary Source,” looks to deliver another dose of historical hijinks.

Sam’s publisher, eager for some juicy details for the upcoming Isaac Higgintoot biography, sends our intrepid B&B owners on a quest for primary source material. And what better source than Isaac’s own diary? The only problem? It’s been missing for centuries, squirreled away somewhere on the Woodstone property by the fussy Revolutionary War captain himself. Thus begins a frantic, and undoubtedly farcical, treasure hunt.

So, “The Primary Source” finds Sam and Jay embarking on an archeological dig of sorts, sifting through the historical detritus of their own property. One imagines this will involve plenty of awkward interactions with the ghostly residents, who are, let’s face it, not exactly known for their discretion. Will Hetty offer unsolicited advice on 18th-century journaling practices? Will Sasappis critique Isaac’s prose? Will Thorfinn accidentally unearth a Viking longboat in the backyard? The possibilities, as ever with “Ghosts,” seem endless.
