Lifetime tackles a tough subject this Saturday with “Give Me Back My Daughter,” starring Gabourey Sidibe. Sidibe plays Renee, a single mother facing homelessness who makes a desperate decision with devastating consequences. When her daughter Imani, played by Cadence Reese, is taken by Child Protective Services, Renee’s world is shattered.
The film follows Renee’s difficult journey through the family court system, a world often stacked against those struggling with poverty. Along the way, she finds support from unexpected sources – new friends who offer guidance and help her find her footing. But it’s Renee’s unwavering determination to reunite with her daughter that drives the story forward.
With a supporting cast including Myles Truitt, Sean Anthony Baker, and Walnette Santiago, “Give Me Back My Daughter” takes a look at a system that can often tear families apart. The film is directed by Kelley Kali from a script by Xavier Burgin, with Eric Tomosunas, Jason Egenberg, Leslie Greif, and Ron Robinson serving as executive producers.
“Give Me Back My Daughter” premieres Saturday, April 5th at 8:00 PM on Lifetime.
