“Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star” turns up the heat this Wednesday with drag royalty, Snapchat lenses, and a high-stakes chocolate lip challenge. The MUAs face a “serving realness” test judged by none other than drag superstar Courtney Act. The inspiration for the make-up challenge includes a rebellious representation of the Hindu goddess Kali, a tribute to the 70s punk movement and a drag twist on pop artist David Hockney’s water paintings
The competition takes a digital turn when the MUAs are tasked with crafting looks for Snapchat, vying for the ultimate prize: to have their lens go live on the platform. Snapchat’s head of UK creative strategy Kate Mellett and content creator Atarah Mayhew also appear in this challenge. One MUA earns Val’s first “ding-dong” of the competition.
And for the bottom two, the pressure mounts in a ten-minute face-off where precision and creativity collide in a rich chocolate lip creation. The chocolate lip is make-up so rich in flavour, it’s almost good enough to eat.
It’s all happening on BBC Three this Wednesday at 8:00 PM GMT.
