The 65th TV WEEK Logie Awards are locked in for Sunday, August 3—and with them, a high-stakes Gold Logie race and a new category honouring one of the industry’s biggest names.
The headline prize, the TV WEEK Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality, sees Ally Langdon, Hamish Blake, Julia Morris, Lisa Millar, Lynne McGranger, Poh Ling Yeow, and reigning winner Sonia Kruger in contention for television’s top public-voted trophy. But this year’s ceremony also introduces the Ray Martin Award, a fresh recognition slotting alongside long-standing pillars like the Graham Kennedy and Bert Newton Awards.
Seven and 7plus will broadcast the event live from The Star Sydney from 7:00 PM AEST, with the NSW Government backing the awards through Destination NSW as part of a broader push to reinforce Sydney’s status as Australia’s entertainment capital.
The new Ray Martin Award—named for the five-time Gold Logie winner and veteran of 60 Minutes, A Current Affair, and Four Corners—will spotlight Most Popular News or Public Affairs Reporter, with Langdon, David Speers, Michael Usher, Peter Overton, Sarah Ferguson, and Tara Brown landing the first nominations. Martin himself will present the award live on the night, in a nod to his decades-long contribution to public service broadcasting.
The Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter remains a marquee mid-tier category, this year featuring Blake, Morris, Ricki-Lee, Kruger, Todd Woodbridge, and Zan Rowe. Meanwhile, the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent highlights six rising stars—Guy Montgomery, Hailey Pinto, Jenny Tian, Kate Miller-Heidke, Kylah Day, and Sofia Levin—reflecting the evolving mix of scripted, unscripted, and digital crossover performers.
While public voting is now open and runs through to 7:00 PM AEST on Friday, August 1, select categories will remain active until the day of the ceremony. With the addition of the Ray Martin Award, the Logies are clearly doubling down on relevance in the post-linear era—elevating trusted journalists alongside variety hosts and reality TV mainstays.
Expect this year’s results to offer a telling snapshot of where audience loyalty—and network momentum—currently sits in the national landscape.
The 65th TV WEEK Logie Awards air live on Sunday, August 3 at 7:00 PM AEST on Seven and 7plus.
