Gold Order “Murder, They Hope” Christmas Special

Following the hit first season Murder, They Hope, Gold is bringing back fan favourites Sian Gibson (Gemma) and Johnny Vegas (Terry) for a full-length festive episode called BLOOD ACTUALLY: A ‘MURDER, THEY HOPE’ MYSTERY. For their first Christmas as a married couple, the couple finds themselves in the middle of a murderous catastrophe. In 2024, there will be a second stand-alone Murder, They Hope special (1×90″) produced in conjunction with Tiger Aspect and Schnoobert Productions as part of a double commission deal.

What is the special about

A number of well-known actors, including Jane Horrocks (Absolutely Fabulous), Robert Webb (Peep Show), Rose Ayling-Ellis (EastEnders), Samuel Anderson (Trollied), and Clive Russell (Game of Thrones), will join the Draper-Bremmers in the Christmas special to help them solve murders that occur during their holiday vacation.

Popular Suspects in a Murder Sarah Hadland (Miranda), Lee Mack (Not Going Out), and Sherrie Hewson (Coronation Street, Benidorm) will also be making a return appearance.

Things take a very sinister turn throughout the course of various Santa parades, gift-giving events, and competitive Christmas challenges. As the bodies pile up, Gemma (Sian Gibson) tries desperately to save Christmas, but can Terry (Johnny Vegas) finish cooking the holiday feast of his dreams and solve the murders in time?

Returning to the feature-length format of the Jason Cook penned originals, which included the smash hits Murder on the Blackpool Express, Death on the Tyne, and Dial M for Middlesbrough before the spin-off Murder, They Hope enjoyed two series on Gold, the two new specials will air in 2023 and 2024, respectively.
