Another Friday night, another potential gold-plated crisis in the Yukon. This week’s Gold Rush finds Parker Schnabel confronting a miner’s worst nightmare: a vanishing pay layer. One wonders if Kevin might be better off investing in a team of full-time mechanics rather than another excavator. While the “will they, won’t they” of gold mining can occasionally wear thinner than a flake of gold leaf, this episode looks like a solid mix of high-stakes drama and the inevitable mechanical mayhem that keeps Gold Rush viewers coming back for more. After all, what’s the thrill of striking it rich without the constant threat of everything going sideways?
