Freddy Dodge and Juan Ibarra are back on a new mission in this week’s Gold Rush: Mine Rescue, and this time they’re heading to British Columbia to help a father whose mining ambitions are on the verge of collapse. “Shake, Rattle and Gold” follows the duo as they try to salvage a family’s dream of establishing a legacy mine near the gold-rich Fraser River.
The problem is a familiar one for the series: the mine owner is financially tapped out, and his equipment isn’t getting the job done. With his operation failing, he calls in Freddy and Juan to turn things around. Their solution is ambitious and hands-on. They set out to resurrect an old, discarded shaker from a “boneyard” of unused equipment and build an entire wash plant from the ground up. The goal is straightforward: triple the mine’s production and get the father-son team back in the black.
As always, the episode focuses on the nuts and bolts of mining. Freddy, the “Gold Guru,” assesses the ground and the gold recovery system, while Juan, the master mechanic, gets the machinery running. The human element is front and center, as the rescue is as much about restoring a family’s hope as it is about increasing their gold output.
Gold Rush: Mine Rescue with Freddy & Juan airs Friday, June 20 at 9:01 PM ET on Discovery.
