ABC is marking a pair of major milestones with a yearlong cross-country push from Good Morning America. To celebrate both the show’s 50th anniversary and the United States’ upcoming 250th, the flagship morning program is heading out on a “50 States in 50 Weeks” tour starting Wednesday, July 3.
Each week, a GMA anchor or correspondent will visit a new state, moving in order of admission to the Union. The series opens in Delaware, where Ginger Zee reports from Rehoboth Beach with a spotlight on the state’s emergency response teams, including its coastal lifeguards.
The feature is more than a travel segment. Every stop will spotlight individuals working to make a difference in their communities, alongside state-specific history, traditions, and cultural markers. Viewers can submit nominations for standout locals via GMA‘s website, with a selection featured throughout the tour.
The run stretches through July 2026 and will continue across all ABC News platforms, including GMA3, ABC News Live, and digital and social channels.
Senior executive producer Simone Swink said the series is designed to highlight stories that reflect the character and resilience of each state as the country approaches its semiquincentennial.
Good Morning America airs weekdays from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. EDT on ABC. The program is anchored by Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Michael Strahan, and Ginger Zee.
