Nothing says “relaxing Mediterranean cruise” quite like a glamorous influencer party culminating in a grisly murder. This week’s episode of “The Good Ship Murder” finds former detective Jack Grayling and First Officer Kate Woods trading their binoculars for magnifying glasses as they investigate the untimely demise of Tony Tong, a social media star whose carefully curated online life takes a decidedly offline turn.
The setting is a lavish beach party on the island of Gozo, where Tong is found lifeless amidst the remnants of champagne flutes and Instagrammable sunsets. The prime suspect? None other than Jamil, discovered conveniently unconscious near the scene. Now, Jack and Kate must negotiate the treacherous waters of influencer culture and untangle a web of jealousy, rivalries, and suspiciously filtered selfies to clear Jamil’s name.
Meanwhile, Piers, the show’s resident schemer, continues to stir the pot, his machinations against Jack and Kate adding extra trouble to an already convoluted investigation. As if solving a murder weren’t enough, Jamil’s personal life also takes a hit, as his relationship with Cassie takes a platonic detour. Will Jack and Kate expose the real killer before the ship reaches its next port of call? Will Jamil reclaim his reputation and his love life? And, perhaps most importantly, will anyone manage to capture a decent photo without a filter?
“The Good Ship Murder” airs Friday, January 31, 2025, on Channel 5.
