Gordon Ramsay is trading his chef whites for spy gadgets in a surprising new venture for FOX. The famous chef is set to star in “Gordon Ramsay’s Secret Service,” an unscripted series where he goes undercover to tackle failing restaurants with methods usually seen in espionage thrillers. This marks a significant departure from his previous formats, adding a layer of covert operations to his usual restaurant rescue missions.
Premiering Wednesday, May 21 on FOX, the show features Ramsay using night-vision cameras, secret insiders, and even a high-tech surveillance vehicle. Working with a hidden source within each troubled eatery, Ramsay will gather unfiltered evidence of the problems plaguing the business, often conducting secret nighttime investigations using black lights to find hidden grime. The goal is to get a complete picture of the restaurant’s issues before the staff even knows he’s involved.
The twist comes when Ramsay finally reveals his identity, confronting the owners and staff with the evidence gathered during his clandestine operation. Unlike his past shows, the element of surprise is key here, preventing any attempts at a last-minute cleanup. “Secret Service” aims to be Ramsay’s most challenging assignment yet, focusing heavily on changing the attitudes and work ethics of the staff, which Ramsay sees as crucial for lasting success beyond just menu changes and renovations.
“With undercover help and cutting-edge technology, I get to go full on ‘MI6’ with these restaurants… and they’ll never see it coming,” Ramsay stated. Michael Thorn, President of FOX Television Network, praised Ramsay’s consistent ability to create engaging television, noting this new concept will keep fans hooked. The series is produced by Studio Ramsay Global and FOX Alternative Entertainment, with Ramsay and Bill Langworthy serving as executive producers.
