Granchester Season 9 Premieres This June on MASTERPIECE on PBS
Fans of the British detective drama Grantchester will be excited to learn that Season 9 is set to premiere in the US on Sunday, June 16, 2024, on MASTERPIECE on PBS. This season marks significant changes for the series, including the departure of Tom Brittney, who played Reverend Will Davenport, and the introduction of a new vicar, Alphy Kotteram, portrayed by Rishi Nair.
Season 9 will see Geordie Keating (Robson Green) struggling with personal loss and family conflicts, particularly between his wife Cathy (Kacey Ainsworth) and their teenage daughter Esme. The season’s synopsis hints at a life-changing offer for Will, prompting the question of whether he will leave Grantchester and Geordie behind. The arrival of Alphy, a vicar with “no desire to get involved in murder investigations,” adds a fresh dynamic to the show.
In addition to the new cast member, fans can expect the return of beloved characters, including Al Weaver as Leonard Finch, Tessa Peake-Jones as Mrs. C, Nick Brimble as Jack Chapman, Oliver Dimsdale as Daniel Marlowe, Charlotte Ritchie as Bonnie, Bradley Hall as DC Larry Peters, and Melissa Johns as Miss Scott.
The show’s producers have teased a season filled with “murder, mystery, and mayhem,” as Geordie and the new vicar, Alphy, find themselves drawn into investigations, despite the latter’s initial reluctance.
