Graveyard Carz

In this episode of Graveyard Carz, airing on MotorTrend on Friday April 5, Mark Worman and his team of automotive mechanics, known as the “ghouls,” tackle a challenging restoration project: a 1971 Phantom ‘Cuda. The episode, titled “1313 Mockingbird Lane,” takes its name from the fictional address of the Munster Mansion in the 1964–1966 television series The Munsters.

The 1971 Plymouth ‘Cuda, painted in Hemi Orange, has a rich history on the show. It was first introduced in Season 1, where it underwent a paint-stripping process. In Season 2, its overall condition was assessed, and in Season 3, the repair of a fender determined the viability of the sheet metal. At the end of Season 4, the car was shipped to American Metal Direct (AMD) for installation, returning in Season 5 with brand new sheet metal.

The episode “1313 Mockingbird Lane” focuses on the final stages of the restoration. The ‘Cuda is now back in the Graveyard Carz shop, where the team works tirelessly to complete it. The car receives a new engine, a 440 6 Barrel V8, and a Heavy-Duty 4-Speed manual transmission. The rear axle is upgraded to a 3.54 ratio Dana 60, enhancing the vehicle’s performance.

The episode also explores the tensions within the team. Mark, stressed over a delicate project, faces accusations from the other ghouls, including his daughter Allysa Rose, about not pulling his weight. The situation escalates when Daren goes AWOL, leaving Mark to manage the shop and their ongoing projects alone.

The show, created and owned by Mark Worman, is an American automotive reality TV series filmed on location in Springfield, Oregon. It focuses on restoring late 1960s/early 1970s Mopar muscle cars, with the shop motto being “It’s Mopar or No Car.”

Graveyard Carz airs on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 10:00 PM on Motor Trend.
