Great British Bake Off Rings in the New Year with Special Hogmanay Episode (Channel 4, Friday, January 3, 2025)

The Great British Bake Off Hosts

The Great British Bake Off tent gets a Hogmanay makeover as it welcomes back a selection of familiar faces for a New Year’s special. Judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, alongside hosts Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding, are set to preside over a festive baking competition with a distinctly Scottish flair. Six returning bakers will face off in a series of challenges designed to test their skills and celebrate the traditions of Hogmanay.

This special episode sees the return of former contestants Lea (Season 1), James (Season 3), Norman (Season 5), Peter (Season 11), Kevin (Season 13), and Nicky (Season 14). These bakers, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, will have to adapt to the unique demands of the Hogmanay-themed challenges. From a Signature bake featuring a traditional Scottish dish to a Technical challenge focused on the intricacies of shortbread, the bakers will need to draw upon their experience and creativity. The final Showstopper task, a cranachan creation, will no doubt result in a spectacular display of baking prowess (and possibly a few disasters along the way).

Who will rise to the occasion and claim the coveted title of Star Baker for the New Year’s Bake Off 2024/25? Will it be a seasoned veteran or a surprise underdog? Tune in to witness the baking battle unfold.

The Great New Year Bake Off airs Friday, January 3, 2025, at 7:40 PM on Channel 4.
