Along the way, Portillo visits Beddgelert, where he learns about the legend of Gelert, the faithful hound of Prince Llewellyn. He also stops at Caernarfon, a 13th-century castle with a rich history, including the investiture of Prince Charles III as the Prince of Wales in 1969.
