The Tobin family of Lone Moose, Alaska, continues to be a reliable source of finely-tuned comedic chaos, and this week’s double bill of The Great North, airing Thursday, June 19, packs four distinct storylines into its runtime, a structural choice that usually serves the show’s high-energy, gag-a-minute sensibility quite well.
The episode, titled “Super Smash Lovers Adventure/Serendipi-Beef Adventure,” splits its focus across the family. Honeybee and Wolf get a classic domestic plot as they tackle the renovation of the guest cabin, a project that will surely test their very specific and earnest brand of teamwork. Meanwhile, the younger Tobin siblings—Ham, Judy, and Moon—reportedly undergo a significant shift in their life perspectives after some sort of transformative event. Given who they are, this could be anything from accidentally creating a new form of lichen to having a particularly meaningful conversation with a moose.
Elsewhere, Beef Tobin’s protective paternal instincts go into overdrive. He finds himself in a race against time to prevent a vaguely defined but certainly terrible fate from happening to his children during a field trip to observe Curlew’s Kissin’ Comets. Capping off the pandemonium is Aunt Dirt, who goes rogue at the Old Moose Retirement Home, creating a situation that requires containment.
The Great North airs Thursday, June 19 at 11:00 PM ET on FOX.
