The Great Pottery Throw Down: Bird Baths, Sculpting Surprises, and Quarter-Final Dreams (Channel 4, Sunday, February 16, 2025)

The comforting warmth of kilns and the soothing whir of pottery wheels return to Channel 4 this Sunday with “The Great Pottery Throw Down.” Host Siobhán McSweeney presides over the clay-splattered chaos as the remaining potters face a fresh set of challenges.

This week’s creations? Bird baths, naturally. But not just any bird baths – these must pay tribute to Stoke-on-Trent, the spiritual home of British pottery. Expect some creative interpretations of local landmarks, or perhaps even miniature ceramic versions of Robbie Williams (he is from Stoke, after all).

Adding a twist, guest judge Sharon Griffin introduces a surprise sculpting challenge. This will push the potters beyond their wheel-throwing comfort zones and test their ability to mold clay into, well, who knows what? That’s the surprise.

Judges Keith Brymer Jones and Rich Miller, the Simon and Paula of the pottery world (but nicer), will assess the results, determining who advances to the quarter-finals and who gets sent home. Expect tears, triumphs, and at least one wobbly bird bath.
