The documentary series Green Eyed Killers returns with an examination of the tragic mass shooting in Monterey Park, California, perpetrated by 72-year-old Huu Can Tran.
On 28 August 2024, at 9:00 p.m., Crime & Investigation will broadcast the episode, which looks into the life and motivations of Tran, who killed 11 people and injured several others before taking his own life.
The episode uncovers Tran’s history of paranoia and his suspicions of his family, dating back decades. Two weeks before the shooting, Tran visited the Hemet Police Department, accusing his family members of fraud, theft, and attempting to poison him years earlier. Following the shooting, authorities seized a rifle from his home.
Documents obtained by the LA Times revealed that Tran had expressed similar paranoid suspicions to the San Gabriel Police Department thirty years earlier, claiming that relatives of a woman he had been dating were threatening his life.
