This Sunday, FOX’s animated crime-comedy “Grimsburg” takes a darkly humorous detour to CrimeCon, a convention seemingly tailor-made for Marvin Flute’s particular brand of cynical detection. In “CrimeCon” (GMB-204), Flute finds himself face-to-face with Damien Flesher, a celebrity cannibal supposedly on the path to reform. But Flute, never one to take things at face value, suspects Flesher’s rehabilitation is nothing more than a carefully constructed facade.
Meanwhile, on a completely different track, we have Dr. Rufus Pentos, chaperoning a group of less-than-enthused students at the very same convention. Pentos, grappling with an existential crisis of sorts, finds himself questioning his place in the grand scheme of things. His angst is compounded – or perhaps alleviated, depending on your perspective – by a run-in with the Pentos-tonix, a Pentos-themed acapella group. Yes, you read that right. Now Pentos must convince them that he’s still the criminal mastermind they’ve apparently idolized in song.
“Grimsburg,” with its oddball characters and offbeat humor, continues to walk a tightrope between the absurd and the genuinely insightful.
Tune in to FOX this Sunday, March 23rd at 8:30 PM ET/PT for “Grimsburg: CrimeCon.”
