“Grimsburg,” FOX’s foray into the bizarre world of detective Marvin Flute, returns this Sunday with “Daddy Daddy Bang Bang.” This episode turns its attention to family matters, but with a “Grimsburg” twist, of course. As Marvin prepares for a visit from his father, Stan, he anticipates a chance to finally impress the old man. However, things take a strange turn when Marvin finds himself in an unexpected rivalry… with his dad’s talking car. Yes, you read that right.
Stan Flute, a clear parody of Michael Knight from “Knight Rider,” rolls into Grimsburg with his own version of KITT. This sets up a classic father-son competition, only instead of comparing career achievements or athletic prowess, Marvin finds himself vying for his father’s attention against a sentient automobile.
Meanwhile, the Grimsburg detectives tackle a different kind of awkward situation: giving Stan “the birds and the bees” talk. Just imagine the cringeworthy humor that ensues.
