Grimsburg, FOX’s animated foray into noir-tinged crime comedy, returns Thursday with an episode that’s aiming for laughs—and perhaps a little recognition. The Undies, airing at 8:30 PM ET, finds Detective Marvin Flute taking on the Preggo family—no, not a group of expecting parents—in a quest to win the coveted “Undies Award,” a prize given for the best undercover operation.
Voiced by Jon Hamm (who also executive produces), Flute’s the self-proclaimed greatest detective the titular town has ever seen—even if his family life is a perpetual dumpster fire. This week, he’ll need more than charm and grit to infiltrate this particular crime syndicate.
The episode turns its lens on the ridiculous in its premise alone, but Grimsburg also relies on a solid voice cast—including Erinn Hayes, Rachel Dratch, Alan Turdyk, Kevin Michael Richardson, and Greg Chun—to give its offbeat material some extra bite.
Whether Flute ends up taking home the prize (and what exactly that entails) is anyone’s guess. But if past episodes are anything to go by, expect a wild ride through Grimsburg’s eccentric underbelly—and a few laughs at law enforcement’s expense along the way.
“Grimsburg” airs Thursdays at 8:30 PM ET on FOX.
