Jamie Durie returns to Channel 7 with Growing Home with Jamie Durie, a new series documenting the construction of an eco-friendly, off-grid home for his family in Sydney’s Northern Beaches. The show follows Durie, his partner Ameka, and their children, Beau and Nash, as they build a sustainable house over two years.
The series focuses on architectural design, energy-saving techniques, and eco-innovation, with an emphasis on reducing the environmental impact of homebuilding. Durie says that the project aims to demonstrate that sustainability does not require sacrificing style or comfort.
During filming, the family encountered an unexpected challenge when a pair of endangered eastern ospreys nested on a 42-metre-tall crane at the site. Working with local wildlife authorities, the Duries opted to leave the crane in place until the chicks naturally left the nest. A livestream was set up to monitor the birds’ progress.
Produced by Rawkus Content, the show highlights Durie’s passion for environmental stewardship, blending engineering, landscaping, and sustainable building practices. Durie has won multiple Logie Awards for his contributions to Australian television, with credits including The Block, House Rules, and The Outdoor Room US.
Growing Home with Jamie Durie is set to air on Channel 7 and 7plus later this year.
